Kelly Weinberger founded WorldFinds in 2000 after returning from a 14-month trip traveling the world with her husband. While in Asia, Kelly was exposed to many talented artists and became concerned for their lack of income when tourism disappeared, so she made a vow to do something about it once she returned back to the States and spent the remainder of the trip learning about the plight of the artisans and fair trade. WordFinds soon became a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Kelly herself is currently on the Board of Directors.

WorldFinds mission is to create employment for low-income artisans in the developing world, provide unique, beautiful and sellable designs for North American retailers, and operate a sustainable business that also employs people in the US – all the while being kind to the environment.

WorldFinds: Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability reaches from our artisan groups in Asia to our offices in the Chicago area. Locally we scrupulously recycle paper, packing material, and boxes - you'll often receive shipments from us in boxes we've received from our artisans or that we've reused from local suppliers.

Many of our products help decrease environmental impact because they're made from sustainable or recycled materials. And since all of our products are handmade (and often made in artisans' homes) they are not being produced in factories generating a sizeable carbon footprint. We try to source our products in partnership with the planet.

Specifically, we have a line of organic cotton Dahlia bags, all of our sari textile bags and small goods are handmade from recycled sari pieces, and we're using an increased amount of recycled glass in our beaded jewelry line. As we increase the number of recycled or repurposed components our commitment will continue to grow.
