Here at The Fair Trader we believe that you do care about the artisans who make what you purchase. Whether you are buying a gift for someone or something for yourself, we believe that you want to know the people who produce your choices are paid fairly.
They also work in safe places and there is no child or slave labor; they tread lightly on the earth and participate in cooperatives that operate democratically. Meaning; all are treated fairly. The Fair Trader is the first fair trade store in the Chicago area and exclusively features fair trade certified merchandise.
We carry a colorful variety of beautiful, artisan made merchandise from around the world. You are sure to find just the thing you have been looking for. And you will always find one of the owners in the store to help you find the perfect gift.
We carry everything from home décor, eco-friendly artwork, jewelry, handcrafted bowls, wonderful kitchen ware, and so much more. Here at The Fair Trader we even carry a nice selection of clothing. Lay-away is available. We are only two blocks north of the Museum of Science and Industry.
